Glimpses New York & Amsterdam

Space&matter is invited to contribute to the Glimpses exhibition. This June, five New York and five Dutch firms will present their visions on the future of New York and Amsterdam in a parallel exhibition in both cities. Participating New York firms: W architecture, Work-AC, SO-IL, dlandstudio, interboro. Participating Dutch firms: Delva Landscape Architects, Van Bergen Kopla, Barcode Architects, Fabric, space&matter.
‘Glimpses, Amsterdam & New York, an exchange of sustainable ideas’ is a collaborative project between ARCAM and the AIA Center for Architecture in New York in which the focus is on the exchange of knowledge regarding the sustainable future of the two cities. The aim of the project is to create an exchange platform that can provide a stimulus for the international professional debate surrounding the theme and can lead to new, innovative developments in both cities.

Best Practice #excellente #e-cultuur

Space and matter is published in the book 'Best Practice #excellente #e-cultuur' published by the Virtueel Platform. The article by Martijn de Waal 'De rol van digitale media in stedelijk ontwerp' (The role of digital media in urban design) shows examples of how our office researches ways to incorporate virtual tools in design processes to manage multitudes and to encourage collectiveness.

Virtueel Platform is the sector institute for e-culture in the Netherlands. Its mission is to stimulate and strengthen cultural innovation by sharing knowledge about e-culture and increasing its visibility and scope.

Martijn de Waal is a writer and researcher. Together with Michiel de Lange, he co-founded The Mobile City; a research initiative and international network concerned with the role of digital technology in urban culture and urban design.
